Ernst and Young Emerging Leaders Program

Prior to becoming the vice president of New Haven Terminal Inc., Michael Vasaturo attended St. John’s University in Queens, New York, where he received a BS degree in Accounting. Michael “Mike” Vasaturo also became a Certified Public Accountant in 1983 while working for Ernst and Young, CPA.

For students who are interested in careers with Ernst and Young, the company offers internships and training programs. The firm also features the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), a unique interactive learning experience that allows potential employees to view the many opportunities available to them with Ernst and Young while they are still students.

The Emerging Leaders Program is available in several locations across the country to second and third year college accounting, business, or IT students who have maintained high academic credentials and have demonstrated teamwork, organizational, and analytical skills. Students are able to apply for the program at their school’s career services center.

About Michael Vasaturo

A financial and operations executive with extensive experience in the marine port services industry, Michael Vasaturo serves as vice president and chief financial officer for New Haven Terminal, Inc., where he handles functions ranging from risk management to banking relations. He previously worked for over a decade at Logistec USA as a vice president in charge of the operational and fiscal aspects for several port locations across the U.S. Eastern seaboard. While with Logistec, Michael Vasaturo negotiated labor agreements with the International Longshoremen’s Association, administered the workers’ compensation program, and directed the accounting department.

During an earlier term at New Haven Terminal, Mike Vasaturo made significant contributions to negotiations with the FDIC and creditor organizations that resulted in a successful reorganization of the company following its mid-1990s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. At the beginning of his career, he maintained Certified Public Accountant licensure and worked as an auditor for such firms as Ernst & Young and Alexander Grant.

Complementing his professional endeavors, Michael Vasaturo has been involved with a number of charitable and community activities. He received an award from Saint Vincent DePaul Grammar School in 1992 for his volunteer work with the HOPES (Help Our Parochial Elementary Schools) program. Along with participating in the fraternal benefit society Knights of Columbus, Mike Vasaturo donates to such organizations as Boys Town and Sacred Heart Academy.
